I think this is awesome! As women I think we fall into this trap a lot and it takes someone very mature and faithful to recognize when those closest to us need us the most. Your children are so very young and it is more than OKAY to make them and your hubby the focus of your service right now. Blessings.

Money is so tricky. I know exactly what you mean about how it invites the judgment of others. I'm so paranoid about this for myself. Not that it's the same, but when Bob and I were on InterVarsity staff and we were raising support for our very income, I felt similarly. So. hard. But y'all don't strike me as wasteful people in the slightest, and so I really can't imagine judging you (and I shouldn't, anyway) in the first place.

I was somewhere between asking and letting you tell when it was time. I decided to let this one breathe. :) It sounds like a great plan. I'm still so excited. Hah.. I went to a kids birthday party recently and the host thought it would be a really cute idea to have all 15 little guests blow out the 5 candles on the cake. YUM... The host couldn't understand why none of the other parents at the party would eat the cake.

I don't know if you remember me, but I am a good friend of Robin Ps....I LOVE reading your blog, especially the recent adoption bits....the part about a mommy being the child's biggest need is so true...and wanting to be the face the child sees post surgeries...LOVE...cannot to wait to hear the rest of your ride. Your dead on truths kill me...love it...praying for everything to keep making sense to you and praying for your sweet family.

Ohh you got that spark :-) I remember watching my hubby fall in love with a photo of a shaved headed little girl. I remember opening the packet for our older adopting and falling in love with one look. And saying to my hubby this is her the one we have been waiting for. Hoping for you!

You nailed it. You might not have been given the child at birth, but He equipped you anyway. That's how He rolls. :)

It's a lot. A LOT to have a child with special needs. But I promise it's worth it. It's a kind of love that I still just cannot put words to. It's not more than the love for my other children, it's just so different. Good different. I've learned more about the character of Jesus from being Dean's mom than from anything else in my life. It's all sorts of crazy. :)

Can't wait to meet this little person. :)

Ahh the check list moment I remember it well. When we choose minor special needs we got some major ones... And when we went for the Special Needs Older Adoptee the second time around..(that really stretched my comfort zone to it's furthest point.) We got far more normalcy than one can expect from a child adopted at age 6ish.

DH and I joke our non special needs child is and our special needs child isn't. But what I can assure you on is God knows which child will be yours and so far for us even tho the road is bumpy it's a great ride.

I think we'll actually be heading to S Korea. ...
